Artists of the Limberlost- Carol-Ann Michaelson, potter

Carol-Ann Michaelson's Wood Fired bowl

The Artists of the Limberlost Studio Tour is pleased to have Carol-Ann Michaelson as a guest potter at Brian Markham's Limberlost Woodturning studio.  The pairing of Brian's wooden platters with Carol-Ann's pottery bowls creates a beautiful display in a woodland setting.

Carol-Ann states, "My primary pursuit revolves around functional forms, pieces that are lovely to look at, to hold and to use.  I believe that it is through the handling and use of pottery that its true beauty is revealed.  I design pots with people and their daily rituals in mind.  I have recently purchased a gas kiln and have been enjoying the challenges the new glazes and clay bodies offer me.  I see new forms and ideas rapidly developing with this change.

Artists of the Limberlost Together at the Summit Centre

The Artists of the Limberlost exhibit at the Summit Centre in Huntsville is an inspired display of the recent works of the six artists who have studios along Limberlost Road.  The Summit Centre show allows people to see the wood, bronze, glass, paintings and sculpture together in one space before the Studio Tour on August 18 and 19, 2012.

The exhibition features bronze sculpture by Brenda Wainman Goulet, paintings by Catherine O’Mara, Jeff Miller and Mark Kulas, fused & stained glass by Susan Higgins, woodturning by Brian Markham, and driftwood sculpture by Jerry Friedman.

Come to the Summit Centre from now until April 15 to view the exhibit, and plan to attend the Artist of the Limberlost Studio Tour in August.  For more information go to:

A Successful Show

The Kingsway Lambton Art Show last Saturday was a huge success.  The sunny weather with the promise of spring had many Toronto residents out of the house and wanting to take in an art show.  People loved to touch the wood, hear the story of the making of the piece and imagine it in their homes.

The sales were brisk and it was a time to give out our brochures and promote the summer and fall studio tours.  Many people have cottages in Muskoka or are planning their vacations around artistic events so we hope to see them again.
